Abstract
▶ Climate mitigation focuses on CO2 because it has produced the largest radiative forcing. ▶ There is potential for efficient climate mitigation through the abatement of emissions of CH4 and N2O. ▶ For methane there are co-benefits of reduced O3 and avoided damages to health and crop yields. ▶ We show CH4 radiative forcing provides a sensitive control on the allowable integrated CO2 emissions for climate stabilization.
