Abstract
ⶠConservation and food production objectives are to some degree antagonistic. ⶠReconciling these objectives and clarifying the trade-offs between them is a priority. ⶠExperience in reconciling conservation and food production objectives in terrestrial systems may be informative for the marine debate. ⶠHuman impacts on marine ecosystems have had unintended and largely unknown consequences for marine food production. ⶠEffective ecosystem-based management requires better understanding of human impacts.
