► The concept of “environment” takes on its modern meaning right after WW II. ► “The environmental” was conceived as a “problem catalogue” of serious changes. ► Environmental expertise was defined as natural science about these changes. ► Humanities and social sciences were marginalized as irrelevant for “environment”. ► Relevant environmental expertise must now expand to include humanities and social sciences.
