Abstract
► We discuss the role of local environmental managers (EOs) to co-produce knowledge. ► We define our conceptual framework outlining academic debate and related gaps. ► We present research aims and the multiple-correspondence analysis (MCA) method. ► We surveyed environmental officials of 64 municipalities in two selected regions. ► The results show that EOs do not perform as catalyst of knowledge co-production.
