Abstract
⺠Our study assesses how braided rivers are perceived by different social groups. ⺠We survey riverscapes using a photo-questionnaire consisting of ten photographs. ⺠Perceptions differ amongst groups, reflecting their interests and objectives. ⺠We identify and contrast scientific and popular attitudes. ⺠Environmental education supports braided river restoration policy.
