Abstract
⺠Gasoline prices are one type of capability constraint of space-time paths. ⺠As gasoline prices (capability constraint) increase, traffic safety improves. ⺠The impact is stronger on less severe crashes but negligible on fatal crashes. ⺠The impact starts at 9 months, peaks at 12 months, and diminishes after 18 months.
