Abstract
⺠We analyze the underlying factors of the development of multi-gateway port system. ⺠We model the emergence of new gateway ports in competing with a leading gateway. ⺠The theory explains the decline of a leading gateway port. ⺠We discuss the port strategy in a multi-gateway port network.
