► Investigates active-transport (AT) walking behavior in Halifax, Canada. ► Analyzes 3810 AT walking episodes, from time diary and GPS co-ordinate data. ► AT walks are shorter (usually less than 600 m) and faster than recreational walks. ► Home is most common origin and destination. ► Also important are restaurants and bars, grocery stores, and banks.
