Abstract
National interest in food and nutrition has increased, however academic production is still far from the actual needs for providing evidence that impacts health status. More research is needed to describe, propose and evaluate programmes and actions. Therefore, it is essential for closer relationships to be forged between universities, managers and health services in order to identify common interests and to develop research that meets the needs of the area and contribute to planning and improving programmes and actions.
