Abstract
⺠Constraint induction is modeled as weight adjustment in connectionist networks. ⺠A network for Arabic roots can rate actual and novel roots like Arabic native speakers. ⺠Coarse-grained symbolic constraints can emerge from connectionist learning. ⺠Gradient and exceptional OCP-Place effects can be learned in a connectionist network. ⺠Connectionist constraints relate naturally to production and comprehension processes.
