Abstract
In the article the stages of the development in Boris Pasternak's translation method are analysed, in particular as he worked on the translation of Hamlet in 1939-1940, in which he made several alterations in subsequent editions. Through a comparison of fragments with the original and the translations by Mikhail Lozinskii and Anna Radlova, Pasternak's deviation from literalness is demonstrated, resulting in an original conception of the tragedy which expresses the translator's point of view.
