Development and Characterization of A Linear Matrix-assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Mass Spectrometer

Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has become an important technique for the analysis of biological macromolecules. In particular, the identification of microorganisms is a hotspot in recent research. We have designed and assembled a MALDI-TOF MS for biological applications. The main components, key technologies and fundamental characteristics are described in detail. This instrument is expected to play a role on clinical examination in the near future.
