Abstract
⺠Twenty-two edible plant extracts have been evaluated for their antibacterial activity. ⺠Garcinia cowa leaf extracts exhibit antibacterial activity against all tested bacteria. ⺠Purification of G. cowa leaf extract affords a new polyprenylated benzophenone, chamuangone. ⺠Chamuangone possesses significant antibacterial activity against gastrointestinal bacteria.
