Abstract
► Fucus and Polysiphonia species could be a potential source of natural antioxidants. ► Fucus species were shown to be the richest source of tocopherols. ► High phenolic content correlated well with most antioxidant assays. ► No clear correlation existed between phenolics and Fe2+ chelating activity.
