► Free anthocyanins were determined using HPLC-DAD with gradient elution. ► Samples were directly injected into column after filtration without extraction. ► Cyanidin was used as internal standard. ► Vegetables, fruits and commercial processed samples were analysed. ► The method and results were validated according to ICH and USP.
