Abstract
- The absolute total and partial cross sections of electron ionization on triethylborane are measured.
- The major ionization product ions in the electron energy range of 6.6-200Â eV are the parent ion BC6H15+ and fragment ions BC4H10+ and BC2H6+.
- Gas-phase ion-molecule reactions of triethylborane with selected hydrocarbon ions and boron-containing ions are studied.
- The mechanisms forming two common product ions from the ion-molecule reactions, BC4H10+ and BC2H6+, are via simple ethide transfer and via ethide transfer followed by dissociation (loss of C2H4), respectively.
