Abstract
- The DEA to NMF produces CNâ, OCNâ, NH2â, Oâ, HCOâ, and NHâ, similarly to formamide.
- Newly observed anions for NMF are: CH3NHC(O)â/CH3NC(O)Hâ, CH3NHâ, COâ, and CH3â.
- The CH3NHâ and HCOâ anions indicate peptide bond cleavage occurs upon DEA to NMF.
- The CH3 group of NMF lowers the thermodynamic thresholds to CNâ and OCNâ formation.
- Site-selective H loss from the aldehyde or amide group occurs but not from CH3.
