Abstract
- A new ion trapping instrument is presented in which ions can be cooled to temperatures below 4Â K.
- Low temperatures and high helium densities allow in situ addition of He to the studied ions.
- Helium tagging allows obtaining infrared predissociation spectra of highly reactive species such as small hydrocarbon dications.
