Abstract
- We prepared 4 polymorphs of ampicillin: monohydrate, trihydrate, forms I and II.
- The four forms have been identified by characteristic FT-IR and Raman bands.
- DFT results on ampicillin zwitterion allowed assignment of IR and Raman bands.
- XRPD and thermal analysis differentiated the four polymorphs.
- After two years, no transformation/degradation of the polymorphs was evidenced.
