Abstract
⺠Mechanisms of ultrasound-mediated drug release from liposomes were investigated. ⺠The drug release mechanism was dependent on the liposome membrane composition. ⺠Liposomes based on the lipid DOPE were irreversible disrupted after US-release. ⺠Most of the HSPC-liposomes remained intact without entrapped drug after US-release. ⺠Distinctive release mechanism may explain differences in sonosensitive properties.
