Abstract
A failure analysis of a longitudinal stringer of a prototype vehicle has been carried out in this study. Failure took place at the bumpers fixation points of the vehicle suspension during durability tests. Crack was created and has grown causing fracture of the component. Stress analysis was performed using finite element method. A reinforcement model to solve the problem was proposed. Experimental quasi-static and durability tests were carried out and failures were no longer observed.
