Abstract
Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) is a common diagnostic tool in the exploration of children and adult interstitial lung disease. First of all we will develop the technical aspects and transport modalities of the BAL specimen, then the role of the pathologist will be discussed. At last we will examine the key diseases of the children and adults. Accurate clinical data are mandatory to a good BAL analysis.
