Abstract
Arboviral diseases that are viral infections transmitted by arthropod vectors, are considered as exotic diseases. However some of these infections can be acquired in the French metropolitan area. Arthropod vectors present in France may be involved in the transmission of tick-borne encephalitis, West Nile and Tahyna viruses (mosquitoes) or Toscana virus (sand flies). These last past years, the establishment of Aedes albopictus (tiger mosquito) was observed in southern France, with a current spread towards northern areas. This mosquito is a vector for dengue, chikungunya and Zika viruses. Autochtonous cases of dengue and chikungunya have been repeatedly observed and the occurrence of Zika virus infections is likely due to the international epidemic context of this disease.
