Abstract
Rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) are experiencing a boom in the diagnosis of infectious and parasitic diseases. For medical mycology they mainly concern (i) candidiasis with the latex agglutination tests using monoclonal antibodies to identify Candida colonies, (ii) cryptococcosis whose the detection of capsular antigen, present at high concentrations in biological fluids, is well suited to the membrane immunochromatographic test (MIC or ICT) and (iii) invasive aspergillosis with the development of MIC using antibodies other than those which recognize the galactomannans to avoid false-positive reaction problems observed with the current ELISA tests.
