Abstract
Epigenetic marks are essential for regulation and maintenance of many biological processes which is an opportunity to discover new biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis or response to treatment. Functional genomic analysis were set up to reach the ability to map the epigenetic marks at the genome scale with a better resolution. Technical improvements of hight throughput genomic techniques revolutionized the genomic field with microarrays that were the first tools to produce genome wide epigenetic data sets before next generation sequencing appears which allows new applications at the base pair level with many samples analyzed simultaneously. The production of high quality data being almost routine, the bottleneck is now the bioinformatic pipeline for integrating many heterogenous data sets with an interactive interface for the biologist to make sens of results in a biological context.
