Abstract
The role of commensal skin bacteria is very diverse and misunderstood. Indeed, the skin commensal bacteria are often beneficial for the organism ; some having a role in host defence against bacterial pathogens. However its protective role is currently being questioned. Indeed, disruption resulting from an imbalance (dysbiosis) between commensal bacteria and pathogenic bacteria can cause a change in the composition of skin microbiota, often involving cutaneous diseases (psoriasis, acne). These bacteria can also participate to the chronicity of some cutaneous lesions. This review presents the complexity and diversity of skin microbiota present on healthy skin and the role of this microbiota in the development of some diseases.
