Abstract
Giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis are the most common waterborne protozoan diseases. This can be explained by their epidemiological characteristics : the importance of parasitic reservoir, the large amount of cysts/oocysts excreted in the environment, the resistance of these parasites in the environment and the low infectious dose in Humans. The diagnosis of these parasites relies on microscopic methods and molecular biology. The treatment is based on the use of metronidazole for giardiasis and cryptosporidiosis for nitazoxanide.
