Abstract
Gastritis is a frequent inflammatory disease of the gastric mucosa. The diagnosis depends on microscopic examination of gastric biopsies. Gastritis is usually described by pathologists following the recommendations of the modified Sydney system. Some authors have recently suggested adding the OLGA (Operative Link for Gastritis Assessment) and OLGIM (Operative Link for Gastritis Intestinal Metaplasia Assessment) stages. The aim of this paper is to describe the classifications of gastritis currently used by pathologists.
