Abstract
The applications of capillary electrophoresis in medical diagnostics have expanded considerably since the early 2000s. The goal of this study was to evaluate the integration of the new generation of automated capillary electrophoresis instrument, the Capillarys 2 Flex Piercing (Sebia), in the daily practice of a specialized pathology laboratory. In this study, we demonstrated a very good correlation between the results obtained with the Capillarys 2 Flex Piercing and the previous generations of Capillarys for the quantification of Carbohydrate Deficient Transferrin (CDT), and the quantification of the different serum proteins fractions. Similarly, the detection and the quantification of hemoglobin fractions (variants and HbA1c) were compared between Capillarys 2 Flex Piercing and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). We tested the performances of the Capillarys 2 Flex Piercing in daily routine conditions, showing the reliability, robustness and usability of this polyvalent new instrument for electrophoresis.
