Abstract
Urinary free cortisol is widely applied as a screening test for hypercortisolism diagnosis in endocrinology departments. Urine contains a complex mixture of steroids and steroid metabolites. Biologist should know the effect of these mixture and the limits of analytical methods and pre-analytical factors that may influence the outcome. This paper summarizes the latest updates deemed important for a reliable result and helps to improve the validity of the result.
