Abstract
Cestodes are worldwide tapeworms. They have a long body, or strobile, which consist of a chain of segments or proglottids, which contains a male and female reproductive system. They are commonly located in the intestine of man and provoke digestive disturbances. Intermediate hosts are different according to the taenia. Diagnosis is based on the recovery of the characteristic proglottids or eggs in the stools examination. À single dose of praziquantel is effective.
