Abstract
Blood donation screening contribute essentially to distribute safety blood products and to inform the donor in case of positive screening. In the last past decades, blood donation screening contributed significantly to blood safety improvement, thanks to the implementation of new more and more sensitive and specific screening tests and nucleic acid testing (NAT) assays as well as the evolution of automated systems technology. “Good transfusion practices” and many statutory texts define the organization of laboratories which realize the same mandatory assays defined in the “public health code”. In the transfusion chain from donor to recipient, Blood donation screening allows to distribute safety blood products to the recipients thanks to the improvement of donor screening techniques (immunologic and serologic). A mastered technological evolution and the permanent scientific surveillance allow to preserve the efficiency of blood screening donation.
