L'amibiase hépatique: place du diagnostic moléculaire

The main cause of liver abscess in the world is represented by amoebiasis. The atypical clinical presentation different from the triad of Fontan (febrile painful hepatomegaly) may mislead the diagnosis. This is the case with our patient presented in example. Outside of medical imaging, serology and examination of liver puncture fluid, molecular biology plays an important role. Due to its excellent sensitivity, she brings the diagnosis especially in seronegative forms and parasitic and bacterial co-infections. Applied to the intestinal forms, instead of stool examination, as multiplex (search for Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium parvum associated), it also allows to distinguish Entamoeba histolytica from dispar: species whose asymptomatic carriage does not require cure.
