Abstract
The Anti-phospholipid syndrome associate clinical manifestations such as thrombosis and/or pregnancy losses to long-lasting presence of anti-phospholipids (aPL) antibodies. APLs include a heterogeneous group of antibodies detected by two methods, coagulation tests depending on phospholipids detecting the lupus anticoagulant and ELISA tests detecting anti-cardiolipin and anti-β2 glycoprotein 1 antibodies. In recent years, the diagnosis strategy of aPL benefit of an effort of standardization and simplification, but progress is still necessary, including the development of monoclonal and/or polyclonal standards. Some questions remain unanswered, in particular the value of anti-prothrombin and anti-phosphatidylethanolamine.
