Abstract
Psychological phenomena in alopecia areata is a very old notion. Dental focal infection is debatable. Endocrine abnormalities can be considered as a possibility. Frequent association with vitiligo gives weight to the autoimmune theory. Finally therapeutic response to DNCB and similar or systemic corticosteroids on universalis alopecia areata throws a new and promising light on the pathogenesis of this condition.
