Abstract
Testosterone circulates in blood mostly bound to proteins, with high affinity and specificity to SHBG and non specifically to albumin, from which it dissociates rapidly. Only 1-3% of serum testosterone is free. For clinical studies, assays of total plasma testosterone, free testosterone or bio-available testosterone can be achieved.
