Abstract
Pituitary insufficiency treated in a conventional way exposes to metabolic and cardiovascular complications increasing morbidity and mortality. 46 patients with Sheehan syndrome compared to 51 healthy subjects. The patients have abdominal obesity with a waist measurement significantly higher in spite of comparable body mass index (BMI). In addition the patients have triglycerides significantly higher, HDL-c significantly lower and ratio of atherogenicity : total cholesterol /c-HDL significantly higher.
