Now, we are also in a new HPV vaccine era against HPV 16 and 18, with still necessary requirement for screening up to the improvement of vaccines. Besides, vaccination will decrease the positive predictive value of cytology and vaccine controls will need HPV testing. All this means also that women and physicians need to well understand the role of HPV infection and the new possible cervical screenings with new guidelines, which become more and more necessary.
