Abstract
Various opportunistic fungal agents are responsible for life-threatening invasive mycoses when host defenses are altered. Bone marrow and solid organ transplantations are risk factors for invasive fungal infections, due to immunosuppressive protocols and to the underlying disease. The diagnosis of such infections is the first hard task, notably because of the biodiversity of these infectious agents belonging to numerous genera of yeasts and filamentous fungi. The second difficulty is the medical management of these diseases. The therapeutic approach must rely on mycological data provided by the laboratory. Beside, prevention strategies must be set up in order to avoid infections from endogenous yeasts or exogenous filamentous fungi.
