Abstract
Despite the limited financial resources in a developing country and the limited funds dedicated to Clinical Laboratories, setting a biochemistry laboratory in remote areas is a realistic challenge. Running biochemical analysis requires analytic equipments, mainly a spectrophotometer with all the involved logistic. An accurate infrastructure, a clean environment and an appropriate electric network are among the priorities. The deal relies on the compromise between cost and quality as for the choice of the instruments and the analytic methods. We describe in this paper a practical inventory of the various aspects that have to be taken into account for establishing of a biochemistry laboratory in remote areas.
