Abstract
Appendicitis is a frequent pathology, but is not specific of a parasite. A lot of parasites are found in histopathological evaluation of the appendices: pinworms, mostly in Europa, but also Ascaris, tænia, amoeba, schistosomes. Acute appendicitis was proven by submucosal fibrosis, active suppurative inflammation and active granulomas. But the appendice is often without inflammation, and the parasites are found by chance. The role of parasites in the pathogenesis of acute appendicitis is not obvious. An adapted antiparasitic treatment is necessary after appendectomy.
