Abstract
The authors present a review of the literature concerning the laboratory diagnosis of the leishmaniases endemic in Algeria. Because of the importance of the clinical diagnosis, the different forms of these parasitic diseases and their medical and epidemiological importance are reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed taking into account that there are in Algeria two kinds of cutaneous leishmaniasis and one of the visceral form.
