Abstract
Digestive and nutritional symptoms in cystic fibrosis The respiratory tract and digestive system are the main organs involved in cystic fibrosis. Digestive and nutritional symptoms are frequent and mul- tiple and occur whatever stage in the disease. Meconial ileus, pancreatic insufficiency, chronic pancreatitis, liver cirrhosis, duodenal ulcer, gastroe- sophageal reflux and biliary lithiasis are examples of these problems. Associated with respiratory impairment, the digestive manifestations of cystic fibrosis may cause nutritional problems, varying in the age of onset and evolution, as early as the initial diagnosis, or happening when the pulmo- nary impairment worsens. The survey, paraclinic examinations and treatment of the digestive and nutritional part of the disease are of major interest and modify the life expectancy for these children as well as adults.
