Abstract
Arboviruses are mostly considered as public health concern in tropical countries. However, recent events such as the emergence and spreading of West Nile virus in American continents or chikungunya outbreaks in the Indian Ocean area and more recently in Italy, reminded this viruses may also have an sanitary impact in occidental countries. Moreover, the risk is not restricted to imported arboviruses. Endemic arthropod transmitted viruses with a low or an underestimated role on human health are known in European countries. Diagnostic labs and the national reference centre for arboviruses are organized in networks for the arbovirosis survey in France
