Abstract
The diagnosis of autoimmune liver diseases (primary biliary 0689 1474V 2 cirrhosis, autoimmune hepatitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis) can be made by assessing specific autoantibodies in the serum. A review is presented of these antibodies, the methods used to detect them, and the antigens identified to date. Hepatitis C virus infection and liver allograft rejection, are also discussed.
