Abstract
Various viral infections can involve the lymphoid tissue, particularly the lymph nodes, being responsible of the development of adenopathies. A lymph node biopsy allows to suspect a viral lymphadenitis according to the histopathological and immunophenotypical modifications. The diagnosis can be confirmed by the discovery of typical nuclear inclusions, by the demonstration in the infected cells of viral antigens by immunohistochemistry and/or of viral RNA or DNA by molecular biology technics. The different types of viral diseases are described and their occurrence in patients without immunodeficiency or with an immunodeficiency induced by the virus (HIV) or with an immunodeficiency of other origin. In this last condition, Epstein-Barr virus-associated lymphoproliferations are the most common viral infection.
