Abstract
Evaluation of the bleeding risk prior to an invasive procedure requires, besides PT and aPTT (activated partial PT) measurement, study of platelet function and measurement of circulating fibrinolytic activity, which are particularly likely to be abnormal in patients with clear-cut hepatocellular failure andlor alcohol abuse. Looking for acquired and constitutional haemostatic prothrombotic risks is also required in particular clinical settings such as portal vein thrombosis and Budd-Chiari syndrome.
