Abstract
For the scheme of the French national external quality assessment (CNQ), Afssaps organized six surveys on rubella serology with particular focus on IgG measurement. The purpose of this article is to make a longitudinal assessment of the quantitative and qualitative results obtained by the laboratories which participated in these surveys. Only the results obtained with reagents using an immuno-enzymatic method were exploited. This reveals that the titers obtained will be different depending on the reagent used. Also, the dispersion of the results obtained with the same reagent is significant in spite of the use of international units. Fortunately, cases of misinterpretation due to these variances are extremely rare at the CNQ. But, on the other hand, discrepancies between qualitative interpretations and quantitative results have been noted.
