Abstract
Two new binuclear Co(II) complexes [Co4(L1)2(CH3CH2O)4·5.5H2O (1) and [Co2(L2)2(CH3COO)(H2O)]·2CH3OH·3H2O (2)] have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The interaction of complexes with CT-DNA has been studied by using electron absorption spectra and fluorescence spectra. The chemical nuclease activity of the complexes was examined using agarose gel electrophoresis. When the redox agent H2O2 was added, the complexes 1 and 2 have chemical nuclease activity. The cleavage of DNA by the complex is the oxidative cleavage process of hydroxyl radical and singlet oxygen as active species.200
