Abstract
The homotopy analysis method for limit cycle of the van der Pol equation is computationally extensive. Aiming at reducing the computational efforts, we construct the deformation equations using different initial conditions from those in the existing literature. The computational efforts are significantly reduced. And, the calculated amplitude and frequency of the limit cycle are in excellent agreement with the exact solutions.
